Global Lighting’s May Mash-up
It’s difficult to believe it’s already June 1st, but there you have it! Considering our celebrations during the month of May, this is shaping up to be one dynamic year! Our super talented collaborators at LZF took two awards during the HD Expo show in Las Vegas, and one of our finest collections, B.Lux, debuted some incredible new fixtures at the show (we’ll have them on our site soon).
HDExpo’s team reports the show’s attendance was up 10% over last year with 7,500 attendees perusing the wares of 842 exhibitors within the 250,000-square-feet of space it occupied at the Sands Expo Center. Next year, Nielsen Exposition’s Hospitality Design Group will move the show to Mandalay Bay.
Hot on the heels of the Vegas show, Global Lighting was a proud sponsor of WantedDesign where a parade of LZF’s Agathas bathed the restaurant area in sexy pools of light. Our newest collection, by Secto Designs, created a stir in the City Lounge, an effort of New Finnish Design that drew a heavy crowd to its space. We are thrilled to be Secto’s exclusive North American distributor. We showcased their fixtures in this earlier blog post.

This was the second year for WantedDesign, and the show’s organizers, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, tell us they doubled their attendance over last year’s show, bringing in 6,500 visitors during the three-day event and 2,000 VIP attendees during the opening night on May 18th.
Back to the brilliant inventors at LZF: they’ve created an app available through Apple iTunes, putting all of the company’s gorgeous products at your fingertips (literally)! With the newest version of the iPad, the fixtures seem to levitate from the Retina display. Read LZF’s own blog post about the creation of the app, and then get the free download from iTunes. Now that’s what we call Wood Touched by Light!
And as if that isn’t enough news, both LZF and Secto Designs garnered mentions in the May issue of Architect: The Magazine of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). We’ll let the screenshots of the lights speak for themselves! What’s that? I believe they are whispering, “Lighting doesn’t get groovier than this!”
If the rest of 2012 is even half as exciting as the month of May, we’re in for quite a ride! We hope you stop back often and take the trip with us as we roll out new products and report on news of other successes our growing collection of collaborators are sure to achieve.
